Last Saturday morning while Susan was at a meeting for CCS, I decided to take my fly rod and see if I could find a pond to throw a fly in. I headed for Guanella Pass via Georgetown. After weaving my way through a peloton of Triple Bypass cyclists, I started up the road to the pass. The road is under construction and an absolute mess. I decided on the Square Top Lakes Trail and hiked up to the first lower lake. The scenery of God's creation was spectacular...but there were zero fish in this little lake. However, it is a nice moderate hike above treeline and I recommend it.

above treeline, there is little fish food, limited protection, and a higher chance of freezing; hence, no fish.
