Barrett-Jackson

I admit that I like cars too much. I've always been interested in them and I grew up in the "muscle car" era. I entered some model car shows as a kid and actually placed a couple of times. I think my best one was a 32 Ford Deuce couple...red with a blue corduroy interior...nice! My first real car was a '55 Chevy and then I had a red (with black vinyl roof) '66 Mustang. My brother owned a '57 Chevy that was an absolute "beast". By the way...don't ask me to work on your car...I did work at a full-service Texaco station in my college years and I learned that was not my calling. Fortunately, no litigation came about as a result of my work at the Northpark Texaco that summer. (and yes...I did have a Texaco uniform with "Mark" embroidered on my shirt.)

Now a lot of old guys my age are interested in cars of their youth and often try to purchase a car like they had or wish they could of had. This week is the week of one of the largest car auctions in the world known as Barrett-Jackson. They auction off tons of cars at "no reserve" which means their is no minimum price and the car will be sold for whatever the best offer is. This auction is broadcast live this week on the Speed Channel from Tuesday through Sunday. Don't watch it...it's addicting and you will waste a bunch of time.

I like how you say "don't watch it!" Perhaps my husband is to blame for fueling that addiction.

yes, the '57 chevy was not a 'wee beastie', but a true beast. i began to learn how to work on cars back then; partly because i wanted to, partly because i had to.
